About Jerry Buccafusco
Jerry Buccafusco is a longtime public servant who served in the New Jersey judiciary for over 23 years. A Belmar summer resident for 60 years and full-time resident for seven, Jerry gained popularity during his run for council two years ago as an independent.
A reliable voice for common sense during council meetings, Jerry is known for his in-depth knowledge of local ordinances. Jerry has argued for a more thoughtful approach to new development and encouraged the Mayor and Council to increase their outreach to the entire Belmar community. He has worked to prevent administrative overreach of eminent domain and supported the community through fundraising and other events.

“I’m proud to run on the Democratic ticket for mayor,” said Buccafusco. “With the constant increases in taxes and other expenses that this Administration has pushed onto Belmar taxpayers, I believe my experience and commitment will help us move Belmar in a more positive direction.”

Gerald “Jerry” Buccafusco will run for mayor, while Maria Rondinaro and Mark Levis will run for the two contested council seats. “Coming into this election cycle, we all knew that these were the three people we wanted to run and we are so excited that they agreed,” said John Walsh, chair of the Belmar Democrats. “All three people bring incredible talent, energy and passion for our community here in Belmar, and we think that they’ll help move Belmar in a positive direction.”

About Maria Rondinaro
Maria Rondinaro is an accomplished community leader; long recognized for her ability to build bipartisan community initiatives. A Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Maria is also a small business owner, maintaining her private practice as a mental health therapist for the last seven years.
Honored as an “unsung hero” for her work helping Belmar seniors find covid-19 vaccination appointments and transportation, Maria also volunteers for many Belmar committees and causes. She serves as a Belmar Community Policing Block Captain; fundraises for the Friends of Belmar Library; volunteers for the Rescue Ridge Animal Shelter; and is an active member of the Belmar Elementary PTO.
“Unfortunately, this Administration has done a poor job of communicating and working with the community. I’m out there every day, with different local groups, and they know that with me they have a leader who will listen,” said Rondinaro.
She and her husband, Joe, have one daughter, Adriana, who is a second-grader at Belmar Elementary School.

About Mark Levis
Mark Levis is a Marine engineer and Former Lieutenant in the Navy Reserve with a proven track record in the Belmar Council.
Mark was appointed to serve as a Council member in 2018 and served until the end of that year. During his time on council, he coordinated a pilot program with Rutgers University to test drones to assist lifeguards with water rescues; spearheaded the creation of the Parks Commission; and uncovered numerous failures within the sanitary sewer system. Outside of his time on council, he was one of the bipartisan committee of petitioners that successfully blocked the current administration from using eminent domain to purchase private property.
“There’s so much that needs to be accomplished in Belmar, but this Administration just isn’t moving the needle,” said Levis. “I’ve proven that I know how to get things done and so I’m running this time to get to work for our community, I know we can do better.”
Mark is currently employed as a Technical Sales Manager for a global marine products company.  He also served as chairman of the Belmar Harbor Commission from 2015 to 2018. As an advisory member to the Shark River Cleanup Coalition, he worked to preserve one of Belmar’s greatest natural resources.
Mark and his wife Megan have three children– Molly (8), Morgan (6), and Max (3) – who attend Belmar Elementary School.
